Here’s how to measure curtains:
Ideally your curtain pole or track should be already in place before
measuring. If you do not have a pole or track in place measure
the width of your window and add 40cm onto each side.
We strongly advise that you use a metal measuring tape for
accurate sizes and all measurements should be in cm to the
nearest ½ cm. (5mm)
Please double-check all your measurements as we cannot accept
responsibility for errors.
1. Measure Width - Diagram 1
If you have a pole fitted, measure the distance between the finials
(decorative ends of the pole). If you have a track fitted just
measure the total length of the track.
2. Measure Curtain Drop - Diagram 2
Firstly you need to decide where you want your curtains to finish.
If you require floor length curtains measure from the top of the
track or from the bottom of the pole, to the lowest point on the
floor (check both sides of the window and use the longest
measurement in case your floor is uneven). We suggest that floor
length finish 1 1/2cms above the floor. If you want to create a
puddled curtain please ensure you allow additional length. If you
require sill length curtains, we suggest either 1cms above the sill
or 15cms below, depending on your own taste.
Measure Curtain Drop - Pencil & Pinch Pleat
Now you have decided where you want your curtains to finish.
You need to measure the following 2 parts to ensure you get the
right look for your curtains:
Part 1: Measure the drop from the eye ring. (This is the distance
from the track or curtain ring eye to where you require your curtain
to finish).
Part 2: Measure the heading height. The heading height is the
distance from the eye to where you would like to top of your
curtain to finish. We recommend your heading height for a track
should be to the top of the track to hide it so measurement is from
the bottom of the eye to the top of the track C-D. For a pole, we
recommend a height of 2cms above the curtain ring eye or
according to taste you can measure it just above the pole.
Curtains do hang better with smaller headings.
Measure Curtain Drop - Eyelets
For eyelet curtains you will need to decide where you want your
curtains to finish and measure from the top of the pole to the finish
required length. Eyelet curtains cannot be fitted to a track.

How to measure blinds
All measurements should be taken in mm to the nearest 1mm.
We strongly advise that you use a metal tape measure to ensure
accurate measurements.
Please double-check all of your measurements before ordering
as we cannot accept responsibility for measuring errors.
The three different measuring options are:
1. Inside Recess - Diagram 1
Please measure the width A-B at the narrowest point to ensure
your blind will hang freely, then measure the drop C-D. We will
work out the working tolerances for you. Decide which side you
require the control chain, either left or right hand side while
facing the window.
2. Outside Recess - Diagram 2
Firstly you will need to check for any obstructions that will
interfere with the blind hanging. Decide how much overlap at the
top and sides of the window recess you require. Most of our
customers use at least 50mm for both.
Then measure the width A-B (including your overlap), then the
drop C-D (again including the overlap). Decide which side you
require the control chain - either left or right hand side while
facing the window.
3. Fixed to Window Frame or Architrave - Diagram 3 & 4
Firstle, decide if you want your blind to hang on the inside or
outside edge of the window frame/architrave.
Please measure the width A-B you require and drop C-D. Decide
which side you require the control chain - either left or right hand
side while facing the window.
• Using a metal tape measure, take the
measurements of A, B & C at the top of the
bay window where the blinds will actually be
fitted. Measure right into both corners where
the vertical blinds will butt up together. It is
preferred to have the blinds butting up, so
that when the blinds are closed, there is as
small a gap as possible between the vertical
blinds. Then check the same measurements
at the bottom of the window to make sure the
blinds will fit okay.
• Once you have all three measurements make the following deductions from the width of each blind:
Blind A - deduct 80mm from the width, eg. if the width of the blind is 1000mm after deductions it will be 920mm.
Blind B - deduct 40mm from the width, eg. if the width of the blind is 1000mm after deductions it will be 960mm.
Blind C - deduct 40mm from the width, eg. if the width of the blind is 1000mm after deductions it will be 960mm.
• Once you have made these deductions, on the ordering page enter the dimensions and select Outside Recess (exact blind size)
from the blind location options drop down. This is so we will not make any further deductions to the ones you have already made.
There is no need to make any deductions to the drop of vertical blinds.
• Follow the measuring instructions as above and then make the following deductions from the width of each blind:
Blind A - deduct 10mm from the width, eg. if the width of the blind is 1000mm after deductions it will be 990mm.
Blind B - deduct 100mm from the width, eg. if the width of the blind is 1000mm after deductions it will be 800mm.
Blind C - deduct 100mm from the width, eg. if the width of the blind is 1000mm after deductions it will be 800mm.
Note: If there are any obstructions in the bay window such as upvc makeup, wood quadrant, tiles, handles or dado
rails then make appropriate allowances for these obstructions, so the blinds can be operated freely and fit correctly.
